Its the little things
Mom enjoys setting the table even though I reset it after she leaves the room. She still can stir things as I make dinner. She still takes her dishes out to the kitchen after dinner. She continues to do well on the phone when friends call. She still is as friendly and gracious as always. We continue on a calm path. I am so glad to be able to call her mom again. It is those little things that I hold onto.

I am glad things are still going well. But you do a great job of being her caregiver.
ReplyDeleteI'm only just learning about alzheimers. We noticed symptoms with my Gran around 3 years ago and probably 2 years ago she was formally diagnosed. She seems to be going downhill so fast and is in full time care at the moment. They can't leave her alone anymore as she locks herself in the bathroom and can't come out again. It is absolutely heartbreaking what this disease does to people.
